Patricia has focused on helping students develop language skills and cognitive skills as a classroom teacher, a teacher of the gifted and talented and teacher of language arts subjects in private practice. She graduated from Frostburg State College in Maryland in 1970 with a Bachelors of Arts in Education. She taught in grades three and four in Maryland and New Hampshire before remaining at home to raise two sons and a daughter. Prior to founding Exeter Speech, Language & Education Associates, Pat worked as coordinator and teacher of Gifted Education in Portsmouth and Greenland, NH; as a fifth grade teacher at St. Patrick School in Portsmouth; and as a tutor in private practice. Pat has committed herself to trainings which focus on the development of reading skills and written expression skills, critical thinking skills, and cognitive skill development. She is trained in the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing® (LiPS) program and instructs others in this program. Pat has received training in Precision Teaching and the Learning Propensity Assessment Devise cognitive skills evaluation system. Our Staff consists of certified teachers and licensed speech and language pathologists. They undergo extensive training and continually participate in development programs to learn the best teaching techniques. They work collaboratively, sharing their strengths with other staff members, to provide the best possible instruction. They also provide training opportunities for other professionals and school systems.
Sherri is experienced in providing language-based instruction in all subject areas, with a concentration in mathematics. She has worked in both public and private school settings for the past ten years as a certified Learning Disabilities Specialist. She is trained in the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing® (LiPS) program and Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment program. Sherri has trained in Precision Teaching in mathematics at the Morningside Teachers Academy in Seattle, Washington. Chris is a licensed reading specialist with certifications in reading, writing, and general special education. She received her master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and worked in public schools for several years as a special education teacher and case-manager before transitioning to private practice as a reading teacher and tutor. Chris is experienced in providing reading instruction for students in grades K-12 with a focus on the development of phonological processing skills and reading comprehension strategies. She has worked extensively with home schooled students and students enrolled in distance learning/online schools to provide specialized instruction in reading and writing within the curriculum provided. Chris is also experienced in conducting Home Education Program portfolio evaluations required by local school districts for home schooled students. She is trained in the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing® (LiPS), Project Read Phonology, and Precision Teaching.
Kristin Sheppard, M.S., CCC-SLP
Kristin is a Speech-Language Pathologist with a specialization in language and literacy. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of New Hampshire. She has experience working with students in both public schools and private practice settings. In addition to providing speech and language services, Kristin is trained in the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing® (LiPS) program and Precision Teaching methods.
